Let vegans eat mousse at Magpie
Chocolate mousse is a special treat, but vegan chocolate mousse is as rare a treat as pink dolphins (yes, Lisa Frank, you were right: Dolphins are pink, which means rainbow unicorns exist, too). Magpie Caterers Market and Cafe (1409 R Street) concocts said chilled dessert with 72 percent dark chocolate, avocado, maple syrup and coconut oil, but it doesn’t taste odd: It just tastes smooth. This indulgence may be enough to tempt waifish vegans to transform into jolly pot-bellied folk, but not for long: The avocado season ends soon, and Magpie will likely only offer it for two to three more weeks.
