Latterman

Turn Up the Punk, We’ll Be Singing

Latterman is probably the most jubilant political band in America. It’s got poppy snarl like Dillinger 4, and the band mixes it with passion and conviction like Against Me! The result is catchy and fun without ever being preachy. Great big sing-alongs about riding bikes and hanging out with friends transition seamlessly into rallies against homophobia, racism, sexism and patriarchy. Turn Up The Punk … is actually a reissue of Latterman’s debut CD, which never saw much distribution outside the band’s home in upstate New York. Deep Elm Records had so much success with Latterman’s most recent full-length, fall of 2005’s No Matter Where We Go..!, that they decided the world should hear the debut that started it all. Both CDs are highly recommended.
