Late tastes

Evergreens lie abandoned in the streets, inflatable snowmen are collapsed into synthetic-fabric puddles in front yards and Christmas lights will adorn houses until next December. The holidays are over, but a few season residuals remain on grocery shelves. Late July Organic Snacks dipped its Vanilla Bean with Green Tea Sandwich Cookies in dark chocolate and topped with crushed candy cane. These Dark Chocolate Sandwich Cookies are super rich and are still available at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op (1900 Alhambra Boulevard). A mintier way to extend the taste of the holiday is Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s. These are also sandwich cookies, but the crushed cane is in the crème filling. And both treats are vegan, of course.
