Kung Fu Panda 2

Panda Po (voice by Jack Black) and his motley crew march out to do battle with an evil peacock who has new weapons to help him conquer China: gunpowder and cannon. The story is silly (kids, don’t try this at home—in real life, an artillery barrage will beat a kung fu master every single time); a peacock, even one with Gary Oldman’s voice, isn’t exactly a villain to strike terror, and the all-star cast (Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Jean-Claude Van Damme, etc.) might as well be nobodies for all the difference they make (if interesting characters aren’t on the screen, it doesn’t matter if they’re on the soundtrack—although as it happens, they’re not). Still, it’s a harmless bauble, a big colorful Gummi bear of a movie; kids will love it and it won’t rot their teeth.
