Mayor Kevin Johnson did indeed seem preoccupied … with the question of who leaked City Attorney Eileen Teichert’s memo about possible illegal activity by employees of the city’s building department. “I think whoever is responsible, there’s a crime and accountability in this,” the mayor complained.

But City Councilwoman Sandy Sheedy had harsh words for Johnson’s anti-leak offensive.

“This is shades of Nixon,” she said with a laugh. Sheedy also said she was opposed to the closed session meeting with Police Chief Rick Braziel that Johnson requested, saying that she thought the council should do its business in public, and that “I think the chief should be out there fighting real crime.”
