Keep on dancin’
The news from the Sacramento Ballet these days falls into good, better and best. First, and most importantly, the company finished its season in the financial black. Second, the board announced a full season for 2009-10, which includes 14 performances of The Nutcracker, as well as two productions in the Civic Center’s Community Theater. It also makes use of all the company has learned this year about smaller venues and incorporates more studio performances and Second Saturday fun. But best of all, the company will kick off the season with the new Capitol Choreography Competition, in which up-and-coming choreographers will be invited to compete before a jury of professionals for cash prizes. We’ll get to see it all—and vote for audience favorites—at the Crest Theatre next October. It’s enough to make you want to get up and dance.
