Kaboom!
If you think this firecracker clip art is weak, imagine a photo of bursting fireworks in glorious black and white newsprint. It’s like someone took a picture with his or her hair caught under the lens cap. With fireworks, you have to be there. There are fireworks at Cal Expo and the Folsom Rodeo (see the Special Events listings for details), but there’s nothing like Carmichael’s down-home Independence Day party. The day begins in Carmichael Park at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and live music by the Carmichael Kiwanis Club Band. A parade follows at 11 a.m. Spend the afternoon picnicking and swimming at the park before moving to Del Campo High School for an evening concert and fireworks display at 7 p.m. Carmichael Park is located at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Grant Avenue. Del Campo High School is located at 4925 Dewey Drive. Admission is free, but breakfast is $4. Call (916) 481-1002 for info.
