Justice League: Season One

Warner Home Video

You gotta hand it to designer/animator/producer Bruce Timm and his revolving team of creators; they’re certainly prolific, albeit in a confined area. In 1992, they created Batman: The Animated Series, one of the finest cartoons in the history of television (certainly in the history of the Fox Network). 1996 brought a decent-but-nothing-special Superman cartoon. Then in 2001, the troupe returned with Justice League, a show featuring Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and three other heroes no one really cares about. In these surprisingly entertaining 26 episodes, the modern-day Superfriends battle all manner of space alien and super-powered villain. Hell, “The Brave and the Bold” even features a maniacal, hyper-intelligent talking gorilla from an advanced city hidden in Africa.
