Just Visiting

Here, original stars Jean Reno and Christian Clavier are dragged back onto the set (transplanted to Chicago) to reprise their roles from France’s biggest hit of 1993, Les Visiteurs. A 15th Century Gallic and his vassal are accidentally sent back to the future by an incompetent magician (a slumming Malcolm McDowell), the befuddled pair landing in modern-day Chicago. Their “comic” reactions to commonplace tools of contemporary society make this film—ironically enough—a throwback itself, resembling nothing less than one of those instantly forgettable Disney comedies from the ‘70s.
