Just chill
The Sacramento Valley doesn’t get that cold during winter—if you compare it to the Arctic Circle. While Inuit people thrive in temperatures well below zero, Sacramentans crank the heater when the thermometer dips below 60 degrees and watch their energy bills rise. But staying warm this winter doesn’t have to be expensive. SMUD will offer a free workshop, “Energy Efficiently Heating Your Home,” on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. Energy specialists will discuss caulking, weather stripping, insulation and other ways to improve efficiency. The workshops will be in the Rubicon Meeting Room at the SMUD Customer Service Center, 6301 S Street. To register, call (916) 732-6738.
