Junk in the trunk

Children have an amazing ability to see artistic potential in trash, transforming refrigerator boxes into fortresses and macaroni into fine jewelry. Both adults and children will try to channel that creativity during in Junk 2 Genius, an art competition that promotes recycling and creative reuse. Teams of artists will receive a box of junk and compete with other teams during a timed “sculpt-off” Friday, October 2, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. There also will be art projects for kids and a silent auction, along with beer, wine and music.
