Journey Into Amazing Caves
This 40-minute IMAX info-adventure delivers intriguing scientific exploration and chills for both claustrophobia- and vertigo-challenged viewers as two female spelunkers search for extremophiles (microscopic creatures that live under extreme environmental conditions) in Yucatan, Greenland and Arizona caves. This hunt for disease-curing bacteria treats us to panoramas and challenges more eye-popping than any Mountain Dew commercial with a breathless dangle over a cliff near the Grand Canyon, impossible squeezes through rock crevices, a drop through incandescent glacial walls and a subterranean scuba dive into the unknown. In spots, the script is rather stilted and the new and recycled rockestra music from the Moody Blues is overly bombastic, but this caving expedition from MacGillivray Freeman Films (Everest, Adventures in Wild California) is often a stunning armchair experience. Narrated by Liam Neeson.
