I’ve got a supercrush
I’m not exaggerating when I say that seeing the Sacramento band Tiger Trap in 1993 changed my life. Those four young ladies embodied everything I wanted to be, and unlike the majority of the records from the riot grrrl era, theirs still stand up beautifully. Rose Melberg was the band leader, and went on to lead the bands the Softies and Go Sailor. Her storied voice has only grown softer and dreamier over time, and her two solo records are wonderfully melancholic. Rose has been living in Vancouver, B.C., for quite a while, and she’s currently touring with fellow Vancouveran Kellarissa, with a stop at Luigi’s Fun Garden. Knock Knock and Dreamdate are on the bill to sweeten the deal. Knock Knock will bring it like the E Street Band, except with fewer sax solos, and Dreamdate can always be relied on for the catchiest, cutest songs possible.
