It’s a trip

Picture yourself in a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies. Now picture yourself on a patch of grass in Davis with flower children dancing under the spring sun. Relax. You’re not on LSD—well, hopefully. You are at UC Davis’ 40th annual Whole Earth Festival, where music, art and education will reign Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10. But like an LSD trip, the Whole Earth Festival swirls together environmental activism and “Kumbaya”-inspired celebrations for a sort of Hunter S. Thompson experience. The 2009 theme says it all: Sustainalovability. Gear up for a weekend of zero waste, live music on multiple stages, dance pits with flavors sure to strike as least one of your tastes, food vendors, craft booths and local organizations preaching their gospels of, well, you just have to attend to find that out.
