It's a dry funny
Comedian Steven Wright is revered for his deadpan delivery of wryly ironic observations and decidedly non-sequitur one-liners. It's been described as sort of an “anti-humor” but obviously it's working out just fine for the 59-year-old. His multidecade career boasts numerous acting, writing and producing credits, plus he's an adviser on Louis. Wright, along with co-producer Dean Perisot, won the 1988 Academy Award for the short film The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, which chronicled an introvert's (Wright) visits with a therapist. Upon accepting the award, Wright remarked in his trademark dryly lethargic voice, “We're really glad that we cut out the other 60 minutes.” See, that's pretty funny, actually. 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17; $20-$40.
