Is she with me or thee?
The tangled web of emotions and relations gets constantly rewoven in Becky Shaw, a dark comedy that delves into the dicey, spicy subjects of family, money, love, lust, intentions and shifting realities. Playwright Gina Gionfriddo’s wickedly witty dialogue about two unlikely and constantly shifting couples, plus one caustic mother, is delivered by an almost all-debut B Street Theatre cast. It’s fun to see B Street regular Kurt Johnson interact with talented B Street newbies: a very funny Lindsey Gate, a nuanced Samantha Sloyan, Brian Rife (who debuted in B Street’s Becky’s New Car) and Elizabeth Benedict. The surprising plot twists and acerbic dialogue, along with cast members we’d love to see again, highlights the fun in this dysfunctional group.
