iPod, you pod
The iPod is a party crasher. You program a lengthy party mix into your iPod as the perfect soundtrack to your cocktail party. People show up, drink and dance—just as planned. The conversation inevitably turns to the musical topics of the day: Is the Arcade Fire overrated? How exactly does one “drop it like it’s hot?” Before you know it, your guests have whipped out their own iPods, unplugged yours and hijacked the stereo to prove whatever musical point they’re trying to make. Things might have been simpler when people weren’t walking around with 10,000 songs in their pocket, but times have changed. Embrace the new era with Uptown Studios’ iPod party. Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m., bring your iPod to 912 1/2 J Street. Each guest gets to blast three songs for everyone else. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a full bar. Your drink money benefits the stylish members of the Court of the Great Northwest Imperial Empire. (If you have to ask, visit www.cgnie.com.) If you don’t have an iPod, just bring yourself.
