International Mixtape Project

Remember that feeling you got back in the day every time someone made you a mix tape? It still happens when you get a compilation CD from someone today, and there’s nothing quite like playing it for the first time, trying to decipher the sender’s message hidden between song lyrics. For nostalgic fans of the truly old-school-style playlist, there’s a great way to bring back that lovin’ feeling: the International Mixtape Project. The idea is simple: Each member sends one comp CD or cassette to another member every month for the duration of the project. In exchange, he or she receives a mix from another member somewhere around the world. There’s only a one-time $10 fee to join. But my favorite part is that you can pretend there’s still a hidden message in every comp you get.
