If you’ve never heard of the Oakland-based arts collective Idiot Machine, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. The group, which specializes in street performance art, will hold a screening of its film Permanent Side-Project this Wednesday at 8 p.m. Now, before you start yawning at the thought of yet another film screening, let me make it clear that this isn’t your average screening. The event will feature live music, interactive multimedia performances and audience participation. Sit back and watch as a live performer dukes it out with his video-projected doppelganger. Listen as a local musician creates an original score for a video montage. The more adventurous can volunteer to be part of the interactive action. Tickets are free and can be obtained by e-mailing events@idiotmachine.com. The screening will be held at Osteria, located at 915 K Street. For more information, call (916) 444-2336 or visit www.idiotmachine.com.
