The scholars at the University of California, Davis, will take a break from their studies to host Picnic Day, the university’s annual open house, and you’re cordially invited to attend. The mostly free event kicks off this Saturday at 10 a.m. and offers an array of activities. Fascinated by veterinary medicine? Check out the Vet Med Doxie Derby and the Frisbee Dog Contest. Physical-science-minded folks will have a blast at the Chemistry Department’s magic show. More of an agricultural person? Catch the cow-milking contest and tour the scenic arboretum. The musically inclined will enjoy the Davis Rock Challenge, featuring local bands vying for the title of Best Band in Davis. Go ahead; be their guest and take Interstate 80 to the UC Davis exit.
