Inside the squared circle of life
Some days are like that. You slice your finger open, curse like Tommy Lasorda and kick the nearest immobile object, breaking your toe. You leave home the next morning and get pulled over for carefully driving the wrong way around a truck blocking an intersection near your house. You arrive at work, call some numbers and get nothing but machines. The soft drinks are lukewarm. The air conditioning is intermittent. The jokes your co-workers tell aren’t funny. What does that have to do with Marc McCay’s show New Works on Paper at the Excentrique Functional Art Gallery, 1409 R Street? Well, here is a hat, and it’s your job to find the rabbit. The exhibition is viewable through August 3; gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. or by an appointment, which can be made by calling 446-1786.
