Barbed wire, land mines and muck, oh my!

The Silver Tassie is a 1928 anti-war drama by Irish writer Sean O’Casey following charismatic athlete Harry Heehan from the soccer pitch into the barbed wire, land mines and muck of World War I trench warfare. Alternating between farce, angry satire and tragedy, this is the first local production of a neglected script that’s won acclaim in recent London and New York revivals. $13-$15; 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday; City Theatre in the Art Court Theatre at Sacramento City College, 3835 Freeport Boulevard; (916) 558-2228; www.citytheatre.net.
