In the Mood for Love

Wong Kar-wai’s dreamy drama set in 1960s Hong Kong follows a man (Tony Leung) and a woman (Maggie Cheung) who move into an apartment house on the same day and soon discover their respective spouses are having an affair. They then lean on each other for emotional support and carefully tiptoe around an affair of their own. Kar-wai (Chunking Express) turns every scene into a ravishing snapshot, but this visual feast about loneliness and longing is rather marginally satiating.
