Improv marathon

Things sometimes get goofy in the wee hours of the morning as we get tired. Perhaps that comedic tiredness will add to the hilarious atmosphere of the second annual 26.5-hour Improvathon. At the event, members of ComedySportz Sacramento and special guests will perform for 26.5 continuous hours to raise money for Toys for Tots. ComedySportz actors play out fast-paced, improv-based scenes based on suggestions from the audience. It’s like comedy as sport: A referee decides which team earns the most points based on audience reaction. In addition to the regular ComedySportz troupe, the organization’s Minor League training team, High School League team and long-form Mayhem! ensemble will perform, along with surprise guests, which might even include audience members.

The second annual 26.5-hour Improvathon is Friday, December 3, at 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 4. Viewing a two-hour block of the Improvathon costs $10 or $5 with a donation of a toy.
