Journey to the West

The Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra’s production of Journey to the West is replete with strange and wonderful encounters—and a bit of celestial intervention. The show, about a Buddhist monk who travels from China into India to fetch sacred texts, maintain a healthy sense of humor, and there are about 200 colorful costumes worn by an army of characters (some human, some otherworldly), with live music and imaginative staging woven throughout.
