Big Boys: B Street gets funny at work
This corporate culture comedy skewers screw-or-get-screwed cutthroat business ethics as B Street Theatre’s Big Boys pits a sad-sack newcomer against the loony boss from hell. Boss Victor is batshit crazy, a master at manipulating his madness so the insane sounds sane. And Norman, the newcomer who tries to keep his sanity, his sainthood and his career, ends up being “an asshole in training.” The fast-paced dialogue is funny and humorously inappropriate, with “Dilbert” and The Office moments that are instantly recognizable to anyone who has had to survive under a certifiable boss. The dynamic duo—Howard Swain in his B Street debut as Victor and David Pierini as Norman—while only occasionally sounding forced, are mostly a nonstop fury of funny.
