Reality Check
Blue Moon Gallery will host an opening reception for Reality Check, featuring the work of locals Lew McCarty (the artist, not the Major League catcher, 1913–1921) and Thom Brommerich. The exhibition juxtaposes the surreal cosmology of McCarty’s digital art with Brommerich’s starkly beautiful nature photography. Despite their obvious stylistic differences, McCarty (again, to be clear, not the guy who played in the 1917 World Series) and Brommerich share their decades-long dedication to the act of creative expression. The Second Saturday reception—from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.—will also include a wheel-throwing demo by Chris Max Thompson and live music by Transfusion.
The show opens officially on May 14 and runs through June 7. Blue Moon Gallery is located at 2353 Albatross Way. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. For more info, call (916) 920-2444 or visit www.bluemoongallerysacto.com.
