How hardcore can it be?

After all, it is Buddhism. But Brad Warner—author, blogger and one of The Huffington Post’s 12 Buddhists to follow on Twitter—is kind of an edgy, alt Buddhist. His books have titles like Zen Wrapped in Karma Dipped in Chocolate: A Trip Through Death, Sex, Divorce, and Spiritual Celebrity in Search of the True Dharma and Sex, Sin, and Zen: A Buddhist Exploration of Sex from Celibacy to Polyamory and Everything in Between. His blog—and one of his books—is called Hardcore Zen, and he likes to mix it up with music (lots of punk, natch, since he’s got a hardcore punk band called Zero Defex), and he’s about to embark on a “Zen tour” of Europe. But he’ll be at Time Tested Books this Sunday to read, chat and impart some hardcore wisdom. The event is from 3 to 5 p.m. on August 7, and it’s free.
