Honeydew this
Uvaggio Vermentino, Corti Brothers
I first discovered Uvaggio Vermentino wine trolling the aisles at Corti Brothers, looking for something under $15. The unusual varietal—an Italian grape—intrigued me, as did the fact that it’s made from grapes grown solely in Lodi. The wine costs a bit more now ($18 for the 2015), but it’s perfect for the warming weather. With honeydew and crisp green apple flavors, it’s not overly sweet, and clocks in at just 13.1 percent alcohol. The clean, light palate matches nicely with fish and chicken as well as salads and fruit. 5810 Folsom Boulevard; (916) 736-3800.
