Holy war for laughs
Can’t we just all make fun of each other—and ourselves? Screw trying to be nice and politically correct. If a Jehovah’s Witness comes knocking on your door, you should feel free to joke, “So, you guys believe you will live on a paradise Earth forever and get to live peacefully with lions and tigers and bears? Oh my!” But, alas, most people only smile and nod while saying a simple, “No thanks, I’m not interested.” Enter the smorgasbord of religious (and nonreligious) followers of The Coexist? Comedy Tour. The atheist, Hindu, Christian, Muslim and Buddhist comedians (all NorCal residents, three from Sacramento) aren’t afraid put their religious beliefs before the toughest of critics. Not Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Vishnu or Richard Dawkins, but an audience in search of that holy grail of comedy shows.
