Holiday cabaret
Versatile mezzo-soprano Angelina Réaux—who’s recorded La Bohème, conducted by Leonard Bernstein, and Kurt Weill, conducted by Kurt Masur—presents a smartly staged cabaret-style concert featuring 25 witty, arty and slightly naughty numbers sung “in character,” with pianist Paul Galloway. Much of this elegant yet nimble material dates from the 1930s to the 1960s, including Bernstein’s “I Can Cook, Too” (On the Town), Tom Lehrer’s “Chanukah in Santa Monica,” and others by Jules Stein, Stephen Sondheim and Weill, plus a Puccini aria. It’s a sophisticated treat. Dress warmly for this venue!
