Hippie breakfast
Gourmet granola, Ikeda’s California Country Market
If you take frequent trips to Lake Tahoe, you’re probably familiar with Ikeda’s, the delightful market and restaurant known for its burgers and pies. But Ikeda’s makes a lot of other delicious treats, too, like candied nuts, dried fruit, pasta sauces and granola. There are a few granola flavors, but I dig the gourmet granola ($12.99 per pound), with nuts, coconut and the holy trinity of brown sugar, maple syrup and butter. Each oat feels lovingly toasted, with plenty of crunch and sweetness that pairs ideally with plain yogurt. It’s a hippie breakfast you actually want to eat. 13500 Lincoln Way in Auburn, www.ikedas.com.
