Most aspiring comedians harbor a comedy crush on Donald Glover. It’s kind of impossible not to covet his career arc. Glover was hired as a writer on 30 Rock while still attending college at New York University and tearing up the improv stage at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. His sketch-comedy troupe Derrick Comedy became a YouTube sensation. Now, at the seasoned age of 26, he’s got a regular role on NBC’s hit comedy Community and his own stand-up special on Comedy Central. Though it’s hard to imagine Glover has much spare time, he spends it composing endearingly confessional indie rap albums under the moniker Childish Gambino. (His latest, Culdesac, is available for free at www.childishgambino.blogspot.com.) It seems there’s nothing he can’t do, and he’s only getting started.
