Haute trash

Not quite the same as Christian Dior’s New Look, but a new look just the same.

Fashion models wearing garbage bags? Didn’t that happen in the 2001 comedy Zoolander? Rest assured, this fashion-from-trash show isn’t a front to assassinate the prime minister of Malaysia. The Haute Trash show, presented by the Nevada County Recycling Department, is intended to get locals thinking about reusing and recycling trash. Watch as designers Prima Debris, Redusa D’Trash, StyraFoma, Dumpster Diva and Racey Garbaj take to the runway in their one-of-a-kind debris designs. Perhaps you’ll be inspired to rummage through your own trash for ideas. The models start walking at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Nevada County Fair. Tickets to the fair are $5 for adults, $2 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger. It all happens at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, located at 11228 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley.
