Green Mile, The
Director Frank Darabont (
The Shawshank Redemption) brings another Stephen King prison story to the screen with very nice results. Tom Hanks stars as a prison guard on a death row called the Green Mile, where he encounters John Coffey, a giant condemned man with healing powers. Hanks continues his roll of great film work, and Michael Clarke Duncan is a revelation as Coffey. A good looking movie that features a magical mouse named Mr. Jingles and some pretty nasty execution scenes. The six-part novella series released by King was pretty good, and this film adaptation actually improves on the material.
