Gray Matters
Writer-director Sue Kramer’s film is one of those dreadfully self-infatuated, low-budget rom-coms that plies the viewer with inane, naughty-cute situations and “realistic” dialogue so peppered with pop-culture references that it ends up sounding like a sub-CW sitcom table read. Heather Graham (cute as a bug, even in dreck like this) plays Gray, a neurotic New York ad exec who’s so close to her brother, Sam (Tom Cavanagh of TV’s Ed, whose performance basically amounts to showing up on set), that even close friends mistake them for a couple. Things are complicated by the appearance of Charlie (Bridget Moynahan), who marries Sam but drunkenly makes out with Gray before the wedding. The lip-lock turns Gray’s world on end—is she gay? Is she straight? Or is she just incredibly fucking boring?
