Granny approved

Now that the cupcake craze has waned a bit, the ones that are left are not quite so over the top. A prime example is the Grandma’s Cupcake ($1.95) at Freeport Bakery. Sure, you can get the fancier seasonal cupcake ($2.95) with piped icing and a shamrock or other holiday trinket, but I like to go for grandma’s version. They’re just simple yellow or chocolate cakes, nicely moist, with a schmear of great icing and perhaps a few sprinkles. Not too much frosting; not too much froufrou.
