Goin’ wild in the woods

Robin Hood meets Harry Potter in City Theatre of Sacramento City College’s Robin Hood in the Forest of Frogwarts: A British Panto, adapted by Christine Nicholson. Robin Hood (Hope Raymond) and Harry Potter, now Sherry Hotter (Brittany Bardwell), share the spotlight in this parody-strewn production, wherein the title characters must team up with the audience to defeat the pie-hoarding Sheriff of Snottingham (Sarah Rowland). The Dame (Bradley Moates) is hysterical, as is the sheriff’s faithful canine sidekick, Sirius Bark (Eric Wood), and the numerous minor characters, including both good guys and bad, all deliver impassioned performances. Occasionally the jokes are too obscure, but it’s a great show for kids with loads of candy, physical comedy, music and a chance to throw stuff at the baddies.
