God Hates Shrimp

“Why stop at protesting gay marriage?” asks the intro to God Hates Shrimp.com, a simple but very funny Web site, before adding: “Bring all of God’s law unto the heathens and the sodomites.” Indeed. And with the Lord’s prohibition against certain menu items listed in the same part of the Old Testament as the scriptures that certain so-called Christians use to harass gays and lesbians (see Leviticus 11:9-12 and Deuteronomy 14:9-10), why aren’t those angry Bible thumpers down at the local Red Lobster trying to shut it down, demanding that culinary sinners repent of their drawn-butter-drenched wickedness? After all, one cannot take God’s word cafeteria-style, persecuting one behavior it condemns while embracing another that is equally vile in the sight of the Lord. Abomination is abomination.
