Get Whitey!
Has the hamburger been reborn in Sacramento? That’s what it’s beginning to seem like. To an already extensive list of independent burger shacks that includes Nationwide Meats, the Squeeze Inn and Awful Wally’s, add Whitey’s Jolly Kone, a decrepit tin hut in West Sacramento that slings sliders with the best of them. Dig, for instance, Whitey’s Special: A quarter pounder with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle
and bacon for a paltry $2.19! Feeling hamburgered out? Not a problem. Whitey’s features corn dogs, steak sandwiches, BLTs and a full menu of Mexican items like tacos and burritos. Plus—now get this—they make these out-of-this-world milkshakes with fresh fruit picked right here in the Sacramento Valley. You’d think a place like Whitey’s that has so many good things going for it would have been franchised by now. Thank God it hasn’t.
