Get Carter

Vegas mob enforcer Jack Carter (Sylvester Stallone) hunts the killers of his estranged brother and attempts to reconnect with his sibling’s wife (Miranda Richardson) and daughter (She’s All That’s Racheal Leigh Cook) in this heavy-handed remake of the 1971 Cockney cult classic. Stallone plays the sodden hard ass who gets some help from a Seattle nightclub owner (original Carter star Michael Caine) and the run-around from a computer whiz millionaire (Alan Cumming) and a hoodlum (Mickey Rourke with a sleazy swagger and creepy wax-museum sheen). Stephen Kay brings some flashy direction and editing to the party, but this revenge flick is just way too plodding and routine.
