GD contest winners!

Congratulations to Green Days’ What Shade of Green are You? contest winners, Greg and Amy Kiefer. Here’s some of their winning entry that won them a Green as You Clean canvas tote packed full of all the environmentally friendly products they need to clean their home and themselves, as well as dinner for two at Nishiki sushi:

“My wife and I recently downsized from a 2,700 sq. ft. home to a 1,200 sq. ft. home. Our electric bill went from $125-plus per month to a range from $18-$40 per month. Our new home is built to leverage a simple passive solar design, stained concrete floors, low-e glass, 10-foot ceilings, extensive porches and lots of windows. So far this year, we have not even uncovered our air conditioner. The average temperature in the house is 72 degrees.

Other green habits: no lawn, drip irrigation for drought tolerant plants, water catchment system off of roof for irrigation and fire suppression, no television, fluorescent lighting and we drive a Prius.”
