From the Hart

“I’m Not Gay” by Gale Hart, acrylic on panel.
Gale Hart has curated some of Sacramento’s most memorable shows, both at her gallery A Bitchin’ Space and, in the case of the Circus Show & Other Atrocities (see “Taking down the big top”; SN&R Arts&Culture; September 11, 2008), at Verge Gallery. But this month, Hart will exhibit her own work at Solomon Dubnick, a showing titled New Works—Painting, Sculpture & Furniture. The paintings in this exhibit have a strong California vibe: featureless characters juxtaposed against stark one-color backgrounds, but with unexpected texture and depth. (Hart will show with Sheldon Greenberg.)
