San Francisco singer-songwriter Chuck Prophet first hit the music scene with Green on Red, an early ’80s band whose desert-inspired take on country forged dusty musical trails for the mid-’90s No Depression movement and likes of Uncle Tupelo and the Jayhawks. The singer’s latest album, ¡Let Freedom Ring!, recorded in Mexico City, blends country, folk and rock with dashes of R&B and pop to create a framework for his tales, each one a completely realized story.
