Fri, May 6, Ape Machine
TownHouse Lounge, 9 p.m., $5
Sometimes They Come Back is both the title of a bad Stephen King movie from the ’90s and the mantra of most folks, particularly musicians who leave their home in Sacramento to pursue careers. Portland, Ore.’s Ape Machine consists of Caleb Heinze and Brian True, both at one point a part of the Sacramento music collective An Angle as well as countless other acts. Channeling Robert Plant’s vocals and Black Sabbath’s sound in their act, the group has teamed up with Ikey Owens of the Mars Volta and Free Moral Agents to produce a new record for 2011. 1517 21st Street, http://apemachine.com.
