Fri, May 29, The New Humans
Cesar Chavez Park, 5 p.m., free
I sometimes hear the New Humans practicing on the second floor of a J Street building, crazed and ambitious key-synth arrangements creeping out an open window, like madness unleashed on downtown; this Friday, they’ll cross the street and gig Concerts in the Park, where they’ll sound big: huge synth waves, keyboard runs that come out of nowhere, and now vocals, all of it bouncing off the U.S. Bank building and The Citizen Hotel and into the city’s streets while bros pound Budweisers and suburbanites get lost looking for a place to park. This is what it’s all about. With Pets, Dusty Brown and the Ancient Sons. 10th and J streets downtown.
