Fri, May 20, Get Shot
The Distillery, 9:30 p.m., $6-$8
Get Shot finally has its album-release show this week, along with go-go dancers and bands Dead Panic, Inferno of Joy and the Stalking Distance. The band’s style is an uncanny blend of punk and rock and sexually suggestive lyrics that remind of ’80s hair metal. This is the magic I like to call “slut punk.” In Sacramento, pretty much every band is part of a clique (hardcore, punk, indie, etc.) and these guys bring a fresh injection of new sounds (and fluids) into the standard staleness of the local music scene. Only $6 to get in if you dress as a porn or rock star, $8 if you’re just lurking. 2107 L Street, www.facebook.com/getshotrocknroll.
