Former child actress Morgan Nagler (Punky Brewster, Star Trek: The Next Generation) doesn’t call on her thespian chops much anymore. Instead, Nagler makes her name fronting Whispertown 2000, a Los Angeles-based band that is equal parts Rilo Kiley, Lucinda Williams and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The sound is sweet and jangly, but—cut with a dusky Americana mood—easily avoids the overly precious pitfalls of twee pop.
