Fri, May 13, Pegi Young
The Center for the Arts, 8 p.m., $15-$18
Pegi Young is best known as the wife to Neil, but this Bay Area-based singer-songwriter is not only co-founder of the annual Bridge School Benefit, but also an accomplished artist in her own right. In 2007, Young released her self-titled debut solo album, getting by with a little help from the likes of high-profile friends such as Spooner Oldham, Mary Stuart and Ben Keith. Young’s latest, Foul Deeds, produced by Elliot Mazer, examines themes of how loss and grief are shaped by the passing of time and includes a sweet, emotional rendition of Devendra Banhart’s “Body Breaks” (featuring Neil on acoustic guitar). 314 W. Main Street in Grass Valley, www.pegiyoung.com.
