What better way to open the 2013 season of Concerts in the Park than with Element of Soul? This high-energy band—nominated for a 2012 Sammie in the reggae category—cites Incubus, Bob Marley, Jason Mraz, Sublime and, in Element of Soul's words, “everything” as its musical influences. Mix two-parts reggae, one-part each of pop, rock and hip-hop, and you have the makings of EOS. But this group doesn't fit neatly into any genre. Look for the band to drop its acoustic EP Love & Light this spring, a year after releasing its self-titled debut album.
